QLD Gov Employees able to Salary Sacrifice Public Transport from 1 April 08

Good news for QLD Government employees (in certain agencies).  From 1 April 2008, you will be able to salary sacrifice Public Transport costs.

It will only be available for public transport provided by Queensland Rail and Brisbane City Council.  (I have no idea how that will work with integrated ticketing!)

Up to $1,333.33 can be claimed without FBT, however, this limit is shared with claims for electricity costs.  Unfortunately there are a lot of households (mine included) who would claim the full $1,333.33 in electricity alone - meaning this announcement is of no benefit whatsoever.   :(
