Just browsing the new timetable for the Beenleigh line. It has 2 afternoon services going to Yeerongpilly instead of Tennyson.

http://translink.com.au/resources/travel-information/services-and-timetables/timetables/110606-beenleigh-line.pdf

First:     Departs Bowen Hills at 15:02 and arrives at Yeerongpilly at 15:27
Second: Departs Bowen Hills at 15:28 and arrives at Yeerongpilly at 15:56

My suggestion is to change the times of these services for phase 2 and extend them to Kuraby.

First:     Departs Bowen Hills at 15:08 and stops all stations to Kuraby arriving at 15:56
Second: Departs Bowen Hills at 15:38 and stops all stations to Kuraby arriving at 16:26

I understand that one of these services is required to start the 16:00 Yeerongpilly - Ferny Grove service. Is that service really needed though? Perhaps start the service from Kuraby at 16:00 which would arrive at Ferny Grove 30 minutes later.

What do you think of this..?

Phase 2 timetables will probably be a complete re-write, not adjustments to the current timetable as you are suggesting.

Your suggestions are also highly problematic - for starters the FG service you don't think is needed is a very busy service and removing it would create a 30 minute gap. There is already a Mitchelton service half and hour later, and thus no room for your extra service. Also you are only allowing 4 minutes for a reversal at Kuraby. Back to the drawing board!  ::)

Or you could just continue running through to Corinda in the PM.

Then you need an extra train that currently doesn't exist according to QR. Also, you need to maintain reverse-peak frequency through South Bank to Roma Street which wouldn't occur if the train started at Roma Street.

BrizCommuter does however think that terminating at Yeerongpilly is a waste. Yeerongpilly trains (from Monday) should still run to Corinda platform 5, or Rocklea until phase 2 comes along in 2012 (ish).

Pull the other one. Firstly, PM peak doesn't run as many services as the AM peak.  Do these trains disappear through the day?  Secondly, these trains can make a return to Roma St in time for a peak service, or at least the first one.

This was the poor excuse BrizCommuter had from QR as to no enhancements on "the other lines" from Monday.

Or start the Mitchelton service 30 minutes earlier..? I'm sure in 6 months time there will be extra trains. Still a few more to be delivered from EDI

What they need is Hong Kong MTR and Singapore MRT snapping at their heels.

That then leaves a 30 minute peak gap from  Mitchy to FG. Try again.

I meant to say..

1st train:  Train departs Kuraby at 16:00 - all stops to Mitchelton arriving at 16:53 - Could leave Kuraby a bit later..
2nd train: Train departs Roma Street at 16:19 - all stops to FG arriving at 16:55

It's pointless going off the timetables as you said they are getting re-written.
