SEQ: Job well done TransLink on UQ Lakes

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport passengers and an advocate for public transport wishes to acknowledge TransLink's quick and responsive efforts.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"RAIL Back on Track wishes to acknowledge the good work done by TransLink, in particular the very quick response in solving not one but two problems before they occurred. Firstly, the extra route 192 buses to UQ are appreciated and will be important while the CityCat service is off-line (1).

"Secondly, RAIL Back on Track wishes to acknowledge the installation today of an automatic ticketing machine at UQ Lakes in time for the start of semester. The start of semester is always a high-load period for the buses and having the Go Card machine at UQ Lakes is very important given the large number of people that station handles and also because it will allow top-up even when campus stores are closed.

"We thank TransLink again for their  responsive efforts. Well done!  The long overdue capacity upgrade of UQ Lakes bus station will hopefully eventuate soon as well (2)."

Presently at Buranda.  Just been for a run on 169 to UQ Lakes. Yes, the AVVM is at the UQ Lakes Bus Station, still to be turned on but that should happen shortly.

Went down for a walk to the CityCat terminal for a look.  Reasonable amount of damage to the river bank, particularly upstream from the Green Bridge.  Nothing has been started in terms of recovery of the terminal.  The old river ferry terminals near the bridge are essentially gone as well.

I thought I'd catch 192 yesterday.
Standing load on the bus ex UQ Lakes.  :bu ;)

Many people getting off along Gladstone Road.
Good work TL.
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

I have been advised the AVVM at UQ Lakes is now in operation.

Yeah I mentioned to some friends who live along Gladstone Rd that the 192 had been increased because of the lack of CityCats and they loved it. They are going to be heading back to UQ and found it irritating as the CityCat isn't particularly useful for them.

As for standing room only, you should sit around and watch the buses during the afternoon/evening. Very much full buses.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Slightly related, but I had to drop into UQ today..It's amazing how heavily used the machine at Chancellors Place was...constant stream of people topping up, and this was at 1pm. Why they never had it in sooner  :conf

Well to my knowledge there are only 2 go card retailers on campus, the two newsagents. Theres on under the Physiology lecture theaters (building 67 or something) which is maybe 200m (?) from Chancellors place or the other near Wordsmiths Cafe which I'm not sure if its actually open atm as they are redoing that building or something now. And I've never used either of those to top up my go card as I hardly ever go in to them, and I prefer to just use the machine at either Ferny Grove or Central.
