Doomben Line

I'm thinking some more about a 15 minute frequency on the Doomben Line.

If it's a precision cross at Ascot, then it cannot be paired with the Cleveland line as two precision crosses on the route would be unacceptable.  That means Doomben cannot be paired with Cleveland.  Pairing with Beenleigh doesn't seem to cause any trouble for the network.  I have mocked up a timetable below.

In another thread I have mocked up a timetable for Ferny Grove-Cleveland, which I will reproduce below that.

I really don't mind the precision cross at Ascot too much if Doomben is the terminus.  It's not like Ferny Grove where over 2000 pax use it every AM peak.  I think this should be achievable for small change.  As for DDA compliance, or the lack thereof, can that be grandfathered in like at almost every other non-compliant platform across the network.

As for Ferny Grove-Manly/Cleveland, if Keperra-Ferny Grove is really a 3 minute section it is perfectly doable, even with the 3 minute dwell at Central which I think should be squeezed to no more than 2 minutes with no dwell at Roma St.

Mocked up timetable here:

Ferny Grove depart:45:00:15:30
Keperra:48:03:18:33
Central arr:15:30:45:00
Central depart:18:33:48:03

Cleveland arr:20 :50

Keperra to Ferny Grove is approx 3.5mins
Ferny Grove to Keperra is approx 3mins
The Arbour Street level crossing has to reopen after an arriving train, before another train can close the crossing and depart - I think the minimum arrival to departure time is 75secs. You then need to add operating margin, so allow 2mins.

So, what you are saying is that my proposed timetable has only 15s of operating margin at Ferny Grove.

I don't follow why that is a requirement?  Is there some limitation in the safeworking?  Shouldn't it be easy to fix?

It's something to do with the signalling system, and I'm pretty sure QR have zero intention of fixing it until the duplication solves the issue anyway.
