Im voting yes,

I just hope they didnt pay someone to design it.  ;)

I think the Indooroopilly Station is very attractive and fits with the surrounding area perfectly. It is one of the best stations on the CityTrain network, if not the whole State.

Indooroopilly certainly has a unique character about it.  Not everyone's cup of tea but I am grateful it is bright, clean, and apart from the short section of subway under the responsibility of the Brisbane Council  more than useable.  It looks good under lights at night I have noticed as well.

I don't mind it. It is consistent with Indooroopilly's transformation into a transit-orientated-development in recent years. Within 400m there is
- a small shopping centre, including a major supermarket
- at least 6 medium density apartment blocks
- restaurants / cafes and other 'activity centres' immediately at each of the 3 station exits
- cinema complex

Within  the 'textbook' 800m distance of the station there is
- 3 schools
- a regional shopping centre

Despite zero commuter parking the rail patronage has now increased to 3rd out of 134 suburban stations, beaten only by Ferny Grove and Petrie.  If only the buses could intergrate with rail station!

its to bright i would have rather a more timeless look
"Where else but Queensland?"

Well, I can't say I'm too fussed on the look of it myself but hey.....at least most of the actual platform areas have good cover during wet weather!!

I like it . . it is nice and colourful. (But then I am the Purple Deltic lol). But I also agree that the subway that is BCC controlled is not the best. Someone called the "Poo Punter of Indooroopilly Station Subway", who blogs a lot in the Courier Mail, keeps reminding us of it too! I wonder who that is? Not someone who blogs a lot on here is it?  ;D  :-r

The subway is an ongoing problem.  Good on Mr PP for highlighting the issue!
The station is fine by me.

Cheers

I must admit, when I first saw the station the first thing that popped into my head was 'Sunshine, Lollipops, Rainbows everywhere...'

Unique IMO is an understatement.

They need to run a driven tunnel down to the train station from the bus station then continue the busway to the uni via cut and cover as well as driven tunnels until it meets with the existing busway at the uni.

I don't know about ugly, but definitely it it should have had better incorporation of planning principles to compliment active and public transport beyond rail.

#Metro

No more spending money on super-fancy stations.
That needs to go into the foundations of the service- higher rail frequencies.

It needs some PIDs in the tunnel, so that passengers don't need to be psychic to know which platform the next train leaves from.

Good suggestion. I'd like to see this in every underpass if possible (i.e. Oxley, Beenleigh, Woodridge, Oxford Park etc.)

I hope they manage to arrest whoever was responsible for that huge attack of vandalism on... What? You mean it's supposed to look like that?

Out of interest, what architectural firm designed the station?

Hopefully one that isn't going to get another chance.  I don't want them designing my home!

IMO part of the problem is that they set the budgets for stations too high, so architects are obliged to design something that uses all of that budget (little known fact, but they can be sued not just for being more than 10% over budget, but 10% under budget as well....So as a result you end up with silly designs like Indro and their expensive, excessive designs (did anyone ever see the canopies when they were under construction...they couldn't have come up with a more complex design if they tried!)
In the future they need to be a bit harder with their budgets (lol, the only time I'd advocate tighter budgets in terms of an aspect of PT) and have a clear set criteria in terms of what facilities it needs to have, and that would force innovation and more efficient construction methods.

Down in Victoria this sort of thing is getting out of control....$220 million has been allocated for just four train stations...I really don't understand how they can cost $55 million each.
(see http://www.transport.vic.gov.au/web23/Home.nsf/HeadingPagesDisplay/ProjectsNew+Stations+in+Growth+Areas?OpenDocument )

I mean, over in Perth they built Victoria park station in 2007 for $9.2 million.  (See http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/Portals/0/annualreports/2008/network-and-infrastructure.html ) and that was for a decent station with lifts and a full "train shed" style roof over the tracks and platform:

Granted, it doesn't have lifts at either end, only one from the bridge to the island platform, so that would be the only additional bit of money I would spend.
