I hope that this 'cash splash' is not wasted on one-off 'party poppers' like petrol subsidies or cut price electricity.
If they are really thinking this (and CM is to be believed!) there are some good long term projects that can be done and move a lot of people, ahem, voters...

1. Cross River Rail
2. Rail network (Landsborough, CAMCOS, Doomben Line)
3. BUZ services (BUZ 450, 100, 375. 599/598)
4. Light Rail extension on the Gold Coast

QuoteA SERIES of hip-pocket policies funded from the proceeds of asset sales are being planned by the Bligh Government in an attempt to win back voters.

Initiatives that tackle the spiralling cost-of-living pressures of water, electricity and motoring are all being considered for next year's make-or-break State Budget.

The successful debut of Queensland Rail National on the Australian Securities Exchange yesterday took the total haul from asset sales to $7.5 billion.

Yes noted that article, thanks for posting it.  I have been a bit busy.

Unfortunately there will probably be a lot of short term hip pocket tokens that will be an attempt to appease the growing discontent, rather than a longer term view.  It is a partly due to the perverse electoral cycles we have.

Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
