QuoteThe new tt do not address the problem of lack of connections at branch line junctions and where buses terminate at stations. Last week I went through Helensvale a number of times and found there was a lack of coordination, eg buses and trains arrive and leave the station at the same time, not allowing for passengers to go to the relevant platform. There is still only a half hourly service at week day off peak. Trains from Caboolture at off peak times often sit outside Northgate to allow the Shorncliffe to clear the station. The same happens on Sundays before both Bowen Hills and Central so the Cleveland will be out of the way. This is a strongly negative message for passengers.

QuoteWith regards to the proposed 2011 Ipswich Line Rail timetable, I note there are minimal direct trains during the peak hour between stations from Ipswich to Wacol and Auchenflower (the station for a major health precinct). This is going to cause inconvenience for both patients and staff as although there are connections available, I assume they will involve transferring platforms. In a time when I think public transport should be improved to get people off the roads, this seems to me to be a retrograde step.

Yes, they expect people to transfer at Darra mainly.  It should be easily achieved as Darra is fully DDA compliant now. It would be better facilitated though if they could  use platforms 2 and 3 for the transfer.

QuoteIf this draft Timetable is just a "foil" to keep us happy or to deceive us in to thinking they are being "proactive", I will be so disappointed. I suggest they leave the timetable where it is and put up with the traffic jams on the Ipswich Motorway and hope when this Labor Government is out of the way we may have people come in with a view to true consultation.  I went to the City from Rosewood yesterday and picked up a "Draft Timetable".  I have had a quick look and seeing the new times suggested for Rosewood people leaving the City after work and the eventual time they will arrive in Rosewood (10 mins later than they arrive now) it is crook and will not convince people to leave their cars at home and jump on the train from Rosewood - perhaps they would be better to try and get into East Ipswich and leave their car at that station.  I am having a friend visit today, she is a daily commuter from Rosewood - we will look at the timetable and get back to you.

Are you thinking of outbound?  Inbound, the train from Ipswich would be arriving on Darra #4, presumably to continue on the mains the entire way.  Even outbound, I'd expect the Richlands bound trains to use Darra #1 in peak.

Anyway, *I* would be changing at Indro.

I don't follow the last feedback person's point.

It could be done, though I don't expect it to be done.  We have observed route tuition trains down bang road on platform 3 (the main up).  Richland trains would normally come into platform 2.  There are many options now at Darra.  There are crossings at Pannard that allow movement from the main up to the main down and actually from the sub down through to the main up and then main down as well.

Would be slick if the expresses came into 3, pax who transfer slide across to the all stopper in 2 and away.  Remember there is not going to much traffic up at that time.  But you are correct the down trains from Wacol etc. will be through 4.

The normal transfer will be off the express at 4 and then over to platform 2 for the all stopper ex Richlands.

Outbound is achievable only if the up train for the branch was wrong road.  Technically achievable on the line and may happen during the 'shuttle' era, as this has the advantage of leaving one clear (the up sub) for the freighters ...

QuoteWe still have misgivings about the peak services to and from Rosewood four trains before 5.42am seems excessive in the morning but at least that 6.29am will only take approx 50 mins to the city and that has to be the biggest bonus for commuters out here.  However the afternoon schedule does us no favours.  Not many office workers (not every commuter works for the Public Service) can leave work to catch the 4.40pm from Central to get them to Rosewood at 5.56pm.  The next train to Rosewood leaves at 5.16pm and arrives at Rosewood at 6.28pm.  There are five trains leaving for Ipswich and Darra between those two.  Once upon a time Commuters to Rosewood were able to catch a train at 4.52pm to arrive at Rosewood at approx 6.05pm - that used to be late enough especially people travelling on to Laidley - now that train has stretched over to 5.16pm and that is a big crunch.  I think that any train travelling through Ipswich with no change service should be express to Redbank and then all stations to Rosewood - all the other trains and there are plenty through to Ipswich could pick up passengers along the way.  I used to travel on the Cronulla line out of Sydney for many years and any train going through to Cronulla was a very speedy Express.  If there were good express trains to Rosewood more people would leave their cars at Rosewood rather than drive into Ipswich to leave their car there and travel in on the train.  One risks getting their car locked in the railway car park if they have to suddenly work back.  I intend to go to the Programme Meeting tomorrow night in Ipswich.

If they degrade the Rosewood rail service sufficently as seems to be the intent of Translink then the patronage will drop to the point where by fudging the fudging the figures they can justify the removal of rail services and a bus substitution.
The next door neighbour's tom cat has more integrity about his intentions.
