Just like it says.  To extend to Kuraby, I would be thinking of crossovers from the DG to allow access to Park Rd #3 (if required), and probably somewhere around Sunnybank from the Up Main to the Down Main in the Up direction.

What about 4tph to Yeerongpilly with 2 of those going to Corinda, and the other two going on down the Beenleigh line?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

My thoughts are that this will happen when the CRR is completed to transfer ipswich passengers to the city via CRR.

But I think 15 mins to gold coast is to be done before Beenleigh

That's what I was thinking of.

Might I ask why you think so?  Peak patronage on the Beenleigh line is more than double the Gold Coast, although I don't have figures on off peak patronage (I don't think they are collected).  More importantly, though, the sensitivity to frequency is going to be lower on a long trip than a short trip.

I rarely use Beenleigh all stoppers so I am unsure of patronage for them. I use the Gold Coast trains and express home to Beenleigh. I sometimes go on trips to the Gold Coast during the weekends and there is usually a few seats left - most people get off at Helensvale and Nerang with not as many people travelling further down to Varsity Lakes..

What are your thoughts on 20 minute services in both directions for Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines? Including Ferny Grove and Airport - Surely the infrastructure we currently have can support my only thoughts were to build a side platform at Beenleigh for terminators and all stops(also access to the depot)

It would require overtaking moves, or the coasties to be slowed by a few minutes.  Currently the Coastie leaves Central at :24/:54, and the Beenleigh train leaves 7 minutes later at :01/:31.  You could squeeze that by 4 minutes.  Then the Beenleigh train arrives at :03/:33, and the Coastie arrives 7 minutes later, so it can also be squeeze by 4 minutes.  Close, but no cigar.  Post CRR1, you could probably get there as the difference in the speeds would be lower due to 3 less stations difference in the stopping patterns, however that idea has no operating margin and also doesn't allow for a dwell at Albert St unless there is bifurcation.

I live in Kuraby, and can only speak for Kuraby toward the city, as I rarely go toward Beenleigh.  I tend to be an offpeak & weekend user, as my work is nowhere near the rail system so peak hour travel for me is bus.  I used to do the peak hour grind into the CBD, but thankfully don't work in there any more.

My experience with Beenleigh line is that it is more "peaky" in nature than, say, Ipswich line.  Peak loadings are quite high, offpeak being relatively empty on the outer part of the line.  Weekend services, which I to use more often than weekdays, are generally only moderately loaded at Kuraby, but then fill up markedly at stations toward the city from there.  The last few times I've been into the city on a weekend, the train has been standing room only by Yeronga.

The busiest stations seem to be Altandi, Sunnybank, Coopers Plains & Yeronga & all from Park Road inward.

Fruitgrove, Runcorn, Banoon, Salisbury, Moorooka, Yeerongpilly, Fairfield, Dutton Park are moderately busy & certainly justify their existence.

Kuraby, and Rocklea are very quiet in the offpeak.  I'd say Rocklea is the least used station on the part of the line I travel.

As a general rule, the offpeak Gold Coast services I see coming through are more heavily loaded than the offpeak Beenleigh ones.

cheers,
Colin
