The All New 'Central to City' and 'City to Central' sprint races may be coming soon.

Have you have heard of the 'Bridge to Brisbane'?
It's a 10km race from the Gateway Bridge to the RNA Showgrounds.

Soon there may be 2 new races to challenge your fitness ... and speed.
both very conveniently located in the heart of the CBD.

In the morning peak there'll be the 'Central to City'.
This specialist short distance race (up to 2 km depending upon where you work)
is because the service that used to arrive at Central from Nambour at 8:16am
will now arrive at Central at 8:26am.
If you are an 8:30am starter - this is the race for you!

But don't worry, if you fail to complete this leg of the race in time,
you may just end up with a shortened lunch break.
Besides, how hard can it be to down 2 sandwiches in 10 minutes ?  :-r

In the afternoon peak there'll be the complementary 'City to Central'.
This specialist short distance race (also up to 2 km) is because the service
that used to depart from Central at 5:16pm will now depart at 5:02pm.
If you are a 5:00pm finisher - this is your race!

But for those who don't finish the 'City to Central' in time, don't rush.
You will have 3/4 hour (5:47pm) to finish this leg of the race - and catch a train home.
Walking is allowed.

Entry Cost: 15% more on your fares in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Imagine if someone sneezes on the train. Or a signal is slightly delayed.
Looks like some train patrons will have to use the mythical CRT

Quote· The current 5:43pm service has been moved back to a 5:47pm departure time. This means commuters who already have the longest haul in the entire network face a 45 minute longer wait to catch their train home.

Can someone explain this to me  ???

The difference between 5:43 pm and 5:47 pm is 4 minutes- where did 45 come from???

sure ..
subtract 5:02pm (the proposed previous service) from 5:47pm, as the 5:16pm will no longer exist !
yes, a 3/4 hour gap in Sunshine Coast services, it currently is only a half-hour at peak time followed by 1 and 2 hour gaps.

And they call that an improvement ? .. worth paying 15% more for !

Wow! Maybe someone should start passing a can around at the forum to raise funds for a private coach service from the Sunshine Coast!  :-w

And I thought my off-peak train service was bad.

This is ridiculous.
People in Perth are zooming around on 15 minute around the clock trains to all stations, and here we are, stuck in the last century.

...after today's Sunshine Coast information session, I am sincerely hopeful that the races will have to be cancelled !  :-t

This afternoon (Saturday) a train service into Nambour was 25 minutes late, arriving eventually at 1.20pm.  The Tilt Train from Rockhampton was also running late, arriving at Nambour (you guessed it) at 1.20pm.  There began the 'dance of the trains' to a single platform station.

Tonight, Channel 10 is showing one of my favourite movies - Field of Dreams.  The memorable line from that movie is 'Built it and they will come.'

The Queensland Government's attitude to the Sunshine Coast Line is 'Don't built it (decent infrastructure) and, hopefully, the passengers won't come'.  To borrow another phrase, like the paint, we will just 'keep on keeping on.'
