I love reading your Blog Brizcommuter!

It's Christmas Party season again, and the time of year when people leave the party, only to find a wait of up to 59 minutes until their next train!

Ferny Grove Line has an hourly gap before the last outbound train. There are x2 hourly gaps on the Shorncliffe Line, and there is also an hourly gap between the last inbound service (a bit odd given that the Brisbane Entertainment Centre is near Boondall often requiring additional services). Given that the Beenleigh and Caboolture Lines have half hourly services until close, you would have thought that the Ipswich Line would have the same. But the Ipswich Line also has x2 hourly gaps late at night. Finally, spare a thought for anyone having some afterwork drinks and using the Gold Coast Line. This line has x3 hourly gaps starting from just after 8pm.

I'm thinking that off-peak services need to be radically improved. Night services are also horrible. I often do overtime and get caught with long waits at the rail station. Not happy and very hungry!!!

No toilet, no services, vending machine food... Welcome to Brisbane!

At least the FG & Beenleigh lines only go to hourly frequency between last & second last services.  Cleveland, Shorncliffe & Ippy have to deal with 2 hour gaps on Mon-Thu evenings.

Have updated the blog with the Cleveland's x2 hour gaps as well. Sorry, Cleveland Line was being quite at the back, and I forgot about them.

While we are having this conversation, it makes no sense at all to me, why we would run Caboolture to Roma St, terminating at Roma St at 10:38pm and not continue to Ipswich.

Similarly, these terminating trains, Mon-Thu:
the 12:11am arrival at Bowen Hills from Ipswich
the 12:07am arrival at Bowen Hills from Beenleigh
the 11:31pm arrival at Roma St from Ferny Grove

all make little sense.

I am ignoring Doomben & Airport there, obviously.

I wonder if the person/s who made this decision has ever just missed the service before & waited an hour for the next all stations service to Ipswich. Senior Translink management have cab charge vouchers or tax payer funded credit cards to pay for taxis so there is little chance of this happening.  :pr

It is questionable if any middle level or senior Translink staff commute by rail given their obvious antipathy to rail commuter services.
