Yeronga station delays

Heya

Does anyone know the real reason for the Yeronga station upgrade delays?  The "six month" project began last April and is way over. It's just been announced that the station will re-open on 14 March but a considerable amount of works will continue even after re-opening. The delay has pushed back the Fairfield station redevelopment and presumably others. The Minister and as it happens local member Mark "Mangocube" Bailey blamed heavy rain in November, but that won't wash (as it were) given the scale of the delays.  He didn't try to blame covid-related supply chain issues or Campbell Newman, which must be a first!

Pretty sure the heavy rains were a legitimate reason. I believe I've seen the minister post that they had issues with the construction crews getting covid as well.

Correct, weather and covid issues.

Supply chain issues is a real issue for many industries at this time, including construction, so I wouldn't be surprised if that played a part too.

So are they still blaming the November rain? 15 months into a 6 month project and no end in sight.  It's a good thing we aren't planning to hold a major international event in this city in the next decade.
