Queensland:  QueenslandRail is on track!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has welcomed QueenslandRail (1).  Improved focus on long distance passenger rail and commuter rail services is very welcome.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Rail is the safe, sustainable, high capacity transport system.  Queensland's history is inextricably woven into the history of rail.  The future of Queensland will similarly be very involved with rail as we move forward."

"There is a global rail renaissance under way.  Queensland has now joined this renaissance with the formation of QueenslandRail.  A renewed focus on long distance rail travel is needed.  The revolution in rural rail in Victoria has been nothing short of breathtaking. Investment in track, rolling stock and increased frequency of services has seen massive patronage growth.  Similar benefits to our community can be achieved in Queensland."

"Present track amplifications and extensions to the Citytrain network will afford opportunity for significant train frequency increases. This is the most important driver for patronage increases. A failure to properly utilise our Citytrain network will now be turned around, and this will accrue much social and economic benefit to our community."

"Well done QueenslandRail!"
