Bus services will change in the southern Gold Coast from Monday 28 June 2010.

The changes aim to improve train connections and create more direct routes to popular destinations, resulting in an extra 13 000 seats per week on the local network. A new route will link Tweed Heads and Robina via Varsity Lakes station, providing a direct bus service between the airport and train services. Other services will be changed to reduce duplication, and improve reliability and coverage.

Passengers on the Gold Coast Highway should check timetables as frequency of services may change.

The following bus routes are changing:

    * 753 (Burleigh Heads to Pacific Fair via Bond University)
          o timetable changes, route remains unchanged.
    * 754 (Burleigh Heads to Pacific Fair via Bermuda St)
          o timetable changes, route remains unchanged.
    * 756 (Robina to Burleigh Heads (via Varsity Lakes station))
          o deleted - replaced by routes 759 and 769.
    * 757 (Tweed Heads to Burleigh Waters)
          o deleted - replaced by routes 761 and 769.
    * 759 (Reedy Creek to Robina)
          o becomes Reedy Creek to Robina (via Gemvale Rd and Swanton Dr)
          o services Bridgeman and Woodlands drives, Reedy Creek and Somerset and Swanton drives, Robina
          o increased frequency
          o no longer services Observatory Dr
          o passengers for Burleigh Heads transfer to route 769 at Varsity Lakes station
          o connects to other services at train stations.
    * 760 (Pacific Fair to Tweed Mall)
          o timetable changes
          o connects to other buses at shopping centres.
    * 765 (Robina station to Tweed Mall)
          o becomes The Pines to Robina (via Scottsdale Dr, Varsity Lakes station and Christine Ave)
          o shorter route and timetable changes to improve reliability
          o passengers south of Palm Beach should use route 761 to access train stations
          o connects to other services at train stations and Gold Coast Highway.
    * 768 (Tweed Heads to John Flynn Hospital)
          o will no longer service Gold Coast Airport to reduce travel time to John Flynn Hospital
          o passengers travelling between Tweed Heads and the Gold Coast Airport will need to catch route 761
          o connects to other bus routes at Tweed shopping centre and the Gold Coast Highway.
    * 769 (The Pines to Reedy Creek (via Burleigh Heads and Reedy Creek Rd))
          o faster, more direct service from Observatory Dr to Burleigh Heads and The Pines
          o services Burleigh Stocklands shopping centre for a same seat journey
          o passengers for Robina transfer to route 759, 761 or 765 at Varsity Lakes station
          o connects to other services at Varsity Lakes station and shopping centres.

A new route will be added:

Route 761 (Tweed Heads to Robina)

    * six month trial service
    * improves travel time between the Gold Coast Airport and train services at Varsity Lakes and Robina
    * hourly frequency
    * travels express along the Pacific Motorway to cut an average of 20 minutes off the trip between Elanora and Varsity Lakes.

Servicing:

    * The Pines
    * Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
    * Gold Coast Airport
    * Southern Cross University, Gold Coast campus
    * Varsity Lakes and Robina stations
    * Robina Town Centre

Routes 755, 758, 762, 763, 764, 766 and 767 will remain unchanged.
