QuotePREMIER Anna Bligh has left the door open for the State Government to buy into the troubled Clem7 tunnel as tolls are slashed further in a desperate bid to attract motorists.

Ms Bligh stressed there had been no proposal for a buy-in and said the Government would be very reluctant but that "you never say never".

I would only support this idea if the tunnel was used as a rail tunnel for the Cross River Rail Project.

Clem7 has reached White Elephant status in record time.  Northern link must be abandoned as a similarly bad project and one would now wonder what the Airport Link is going to cost the tax payer.

It wouldn't, it's a rather pointless route for a rail tunnel as it missed the CBD!

Ah, but stephenk, you don't see that its not necessary to use the whole tunnel, just some of it.
Then tunnel the rest on a proper alignement.

Not worth arguing about. Its very unlikely that the road tunnel will turn into anything else, even if it does go bankrupt.
Remember Jim Soorley wrote an article in the Courier Mail taking about options for this tunnel to be a rail tunnel.

Oh dear, I need to bite my tongue in response to that idea.  ::)

The Clem 7 is more likely to become giant waterslide than a rail line.

Busway/lightrail tunnel?

Nice one Stephenk

Brisbane needs a tourist attraction, a big one.
Clem7 waterslide! I vote for that, what a great idea! Or underground whitewater rafting, Wooloongabba to Bowen Hills in 7 minutes.

People will easily pay $50 for admission for that! It would easily be a world famous attraction.
Media Release: Railbot for Clem 7 water slide! LOL!  :wi3
