Public Transport just the ticket for Queen's Birthday events

TransLink is ready to transport tens of thousands of people to the biggest events across South East Queensland this long weekend.

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said a free special loop train service for the annual Caravan, Camping and Leisure Holiday Show at the RNA Showgrounds would pick up passengers from Roma Street, Central and Fortitude Valley train stations.

"The free loop train service to the Exhibition train station will run every day until Tuesday, June 16, including every 15 minutes from 9am to 6pm across the three days of the long weekend," Ms Nolan said.

"People with a match-day ticket to the Gold Coast Titans vs Manly Sea Eagles clash at Skilled Park can travel for free on trains and Surfside buses from 3.30pm to 1.15am on Friday night/Saturday morning.

"Footy fans with a match-day ticket for the Brisbane Broncos vs South Sydney Rabbitohs game at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon can also travel for free from 9am to the last services of the day on trains and Brisbane Transport buses.

"Special train and bus services have also been organised for the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm racecourse on Saturday afternoon and the Winter Sound System music event at Doomben racecourse on Sunday afternoon/evening."

Ms Nolan said all bus, train and ferry services across the TransLink network would run to a Sunday timetable during the public holiday on Monday (June 14).

"Whatever you choose to do on the long weekend, I encourage everyone to visit the TransLink website at www.translink.com.au to plan your journey," she said.

Translink CEO Peter Strachan said maintenance work will be carried on two lines over the weekend.

All trains between Caboolture and Gympie North train stations will be replaced by buses, stopping all stations, from 5pm Saturday (June 12) until 9am Sunday (June 13). Connecting train services to Brisbane City will depart from Caboolture.

All trains between Roma Street and Corinda stations on the Ipswich line will also be replaced by buses, stopping all stations, from 8pm until the last train on Monday (June 14). Connecting trains to Ipswich will depart from Corinda.

For more details on public transport, visit the TransLink website www.translink.com.au or phone the Call Centre on 13 12 30, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
