SEQ:  Positive pARTnerships Program

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has congratulated QR Passenger for the continuing implementation of the positive pARTnerships program and the improvements to the appearance of railway stations.  Recent work at Milton Station and subways on a number of stations on the Ipswich line is very welcome.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Many of our railways stations were built in a different era. The incorporation of murals and wall paintings has improved the amenity of the stations generally.  Graffiti is minimised and the stations are brighter and nice places to transit through (1)."

"Our members have also noticed a general improved standard of cleanliness and tidiness at railway stations. This too contributes positively to a general behaviour improvement.  Staff continue to exercise patience and diligence, and in time it will pay off as improvements in the community's attitudes and behaviour."

"We urge continuing public education campaigns on the value to the community of our public transport assets.  Campaigns highlighting the negative effects of wilful damage to rolling stock and infrastructure generally will further endear change."

"Well done all at QR Passenger!"

QR's positive pARTnerships program

QuoteQR's positive pARTnerships program

The positive pARTnerships program involves local schools, community groups and organisations in the beautification of our train stations which include for example subways, car parks and bike lockers throughout the South East Queensland network. QR launched this new initiative over six years ago and the program continues to be highly recognised by State and Local government.

QR's positive pARTnerships program brings together creative minds and artistic ability of varying levels to actively improve station facilities and the appearance of stations and car parks. The program also validates QR's commitment to the safety and well being of customers while enhancing community pride.

The positive pARTnerships program operates by pooling the resources of committed, talented and creative people from our local schools and community in the development and delivery of high quality art projects. This helps create community pride and safety, whilst reducing crime such as graffiti.

If your school, community group or organisation would like to be apart of the QR station beautification program, please contact:

Golliwog

Looks pretty awesome. If only they would start doing things like that on the actual trains.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sherwood Station has murals in its subway too.  Looks much much better than graffiti.
