A very rare event.  No doubt many are aware of Puffing Billy in Victoria   http://www.puffingbilly.com.au/ .  Now one of the worlds great preserved (and operating) narrow gauge steam railways.

Victoria Railways (VR) had four narrow gauge railways, Colac to Crowes ( see here for some photograph of the last train from Crowes by my Grandfather   http://www.ozbob.com/grand/page_three.html  and  http://www.ozbob.com/grand/index.html ), Wangaratta to Whitfield, Ferntree Gully to Gembrook (which is now Puffing Billy – Belgrave to Gembrook) and perhaps the grandest of them all, Moe to Walhalla  http://www.walhallarail.com/site2/ .  A number of years ago some enthusiasts returned to operation the line from Walhalla to Thomson river.

To celebrate 100 years since the line opened, a steam engine from Belgrave was transported by road to Walhalla, and ran some special commemorative journeys on the weekend of the 29th/30th May 2010.   To have achieved this is most remarkable.

Incidentally 7A was the last locomotive to leave Walhalla when the line closed.
