Most surprised to see SMU 280 adorned with these plates this afternoon at Roma St.

Hahahahahah! :D
Someone is copying Campbell Newman!

Its just shameless, but harmless, self-promotion.
We're counting all the services.... it will be the end of the month soon and still many undelivered new seats.

Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

More politicaly motivated propoganda, might be a little easier to stomach if these additional train sets were being used to provide higher levels of service instead of just allowing for a catch up of defered maintenance.
The new sets are at present being used while many older sets are now rusting their wheels as no additional services are being operated.

282 also has this, I took a picture with my phone but it is really blurry so I'm not uploading.

Spotted one of the decals on SMU 280 this morning at Bowen Hills.

Do you think BT are running all their new buses?

mufreight

BT would get new fleet units into service as quickly as possible so as to minimise operating costs by not operating older less efficent units, the new units would be operating on CNG which is considerably cheaper.

Golliwog

But that argument makes no sense then. You're problem with QR is that they are using the new units instead of the old ones, yet you say that BT do that with the buses and its a good thing.

QR would most likely be performing maintenance on these older units while they can. Like fixing those seats that slide out when you sit on them, fixing scratched up windows and the like.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

mufreight

QR has been doing catch up on deferred maintenence but there are constraints on the amount of work that can be undertaken at any one time but does not change the fact that an increasing number of sets are effectively surplus to the existing timetable and maintenence requirements that could be being used at the current time to operate additional services but additional services are not being operated as Translink refuses to fund them.

BT's most newest buses (the Volgren bodied Volvo B7RLE's) run on diesel through the newer EuroIV/EuroV diesel engine, which iirc are more cleaner than the earlier CNG buses iirc.
