The man was hit by the train near 3pm at Helensvale station. Trains were cancelled for roughly 2 hours with buses organised to cover for the trains. Police are investigating.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

A bad week for it, I'm afraid.  A Darwin award candidate was killed at Newtown in Sydney crossing the tracks.

Now plus the woman at the crossing in Melbourne, that makes 3 people hit and killed by trains this week.

Ok so we have had three people killed by trains in less than a week, how many road fatalities over the same period.
If someone does something obviously stupid involving a train they are bound to pay the ultimate price and deservedly so my sympathies go to the rail staff traumatised by these idiots.

Not all people killed on railway lines are idiots. There are a whole variety of causes including depression, mental illness, accidents, carelessness, and people pushed or forced onto the tracks. I think we need to be very careful what we say about incidents such as these on a public forum.

Having been involved in rail fatalties too many times might I suggest that thought be given to content of posts relating to such incidents and their effect on those involved who have to live with the consequences of the illconsidered or stupid actions of others who by their actions place themselves in the path of danger.
