Bus fail to touch off fixed fares need a review

At the moment, you are charged $3 each time you fail to touch off a bus.  This isn't too bad if you are on a single seat journey, but it's exceedingly steep for instances where you are changing servies.  I still think the fairest solution is to charge to the end of the bus run*, but an alternative would be to charge half the fixed fare if you are connecting, ie: Touch on & off in zone 1: charged $2.30, then touch on but don't touch off.  Only get charged another $1.50.  If it's the other way around, i.e: Touch on, then touch on and off, $1.50 for the first trip seems fairer than the current system.  And $4.50 for consecutive forgetting to touch off.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous plans to increase the fixed fares.

* The other day, the bus driver logged the system out so that I couldn't touch off because he was under the mistaken belief that it would only be charged to the end of the run.
