Seems like people just move further and further out.

Then the complaining begins.

Why is there no transport out here. where is the infrastructure etc etc
"Where else but Queensland?"

In most parts of the world, people tend to prefer to live close to where they work.

However in SE Queensland, people seem to think they can live nearly 100km away (i.e. Gold Coast), and then expect (and sadly receive) a better train service than people living just 5km from Brisbane's CBD.

SE Queensland's urban sprawl needs to be strictly controlled, and people need to realise the Australian dream of everyone having a large plot of land is not sustainable.

The Government is opening up the Ripley Valley yet this same Government is failing to provide public transport infrastructure.
Stephenk noted that people tend to live close to where they work, a good point, but workers at Bradford Kendal at Karrabin live west of Ipswich as do many of the workers at Amberley air base, are these workers not equally entitled to the provision of reasonable public transport.
The BK plant at Karrabin was built there because it was forced to move out of a site nearer to its workforce by residential development and the public pressure of people who moved into the area knowing that the facility was there before they took up residence then complained about the nusiance of the 24 hour operation of the facility.
If you go to southern states people have been comuting on a daily basis from Newcastle, Woolongong, Moss Vale and Lithgow because they in reality have no option.
The population spread in south east Queensland has been predominately costal and westward it has been inhibited by climate, lack of infrastructure and public transport.
