They've also now added that they're making changes to Nightlink services starting the weekend after June 6. Only departure time changes though, not increase in frequency or number of services. Details: http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-updates/bulletin/1305761999

Probably the first time they have messed with the Nightlink stops in a way that is unlikely to reduce the patronage.

Changes to routes 105, 107 and 108
From Monday 6 June, changes will be made to routes 105, 107 and 108 to provide a better service for passengers.

All three services will travel along Fairfield Road before entering the Eastern Busway at Dutton Park, running via the Boggo Road and PA Hospital busway stations, before continuing as normal.

Routes 107 and 108 continue to operate during peak hours only; route 105 operates both peak and off-peak.

Route 105 will also be coordinated with route 104 to provide a 30-minute service frequency along Fairfield Road.

For passengers, these changes mean:

•faster journey times and more reliable services
•a more direct service to University of Queensland, with connecting routes 109, 139, 169 and 209 at Boggo Road busway station
•connections to other services on the Eastern Busway at the Boggo Road busway station
•connections to train services at Park Road station (via Boggo Road).
A new timetable for these services will be available soon. Be sure to check back regularly, or call 13 12 30 for more information.

They talk about it as if they changed the route, but I'm looking at the old and new timetables side by side and can't see any change to the routing, yet they talk about running via the busway as if its new.

The map in the current timetable, as downloaded today, appears to be wrong.  Those services currently enter the busway at Mater Hill, which is reflected in the actual running times.

It was the original intention that on opening of the Boggo Road Busway in 2009, the 105/107/108 would have been routed through there.

Plenty of changes from around that time never eventuated (eg 109 BUZ, routing the 310 and 315 via the RBWH).

Pretty sure that the previous system was all routes served stop 211.  Now half are using stop 212.

Well I don't know about stop numbers, but last time I used it they were split between two stops.

Don't think this has already been posted, and while most of it is just changes to timings to meet trains, there are a few newbies in here:

Petrie and North Lakes bus service changes
From Monday 6 June, new timetables will be introduced on the Caboolture and Sunshine Coast train lines.

To ensure connections are kept to the new train times (wherever possible), all Hornibrook Bus Line services across the Petrie and North Lakes region will change.

Routes 680 and 683
•Minor timetable changes will be made, to keep train connections and improve service reliability.
Routes 681 and 682
•During peak, route 682 services will run to Petrie train station, connecting with express services to the city
•During off-peak, these will become the new 681 services, running from Mango Hill to North Lakes only
•Passengers wishing to travel to Petrie during off-peak hours will need to connect at Westfield North Lakes to a 680 service
•The new route 681 service operates off-peak only, in the North Lakes/Mango Hill area
•The 'Library' stop at North Lakes will be renamed 'Corso'.
Route 684
•Services will now operate hourly
•Connecting route 680 services will depart from Westfield North Lakes.
Route 686
•Will now service the Kallangur Fair shopping centre, before terminating on Andrews Street.
Route 687
•One additional afternoon peak service will run from Petrie train station to North Lakes, in response to passenger feedback
•The 'Library' stop at North Lakes will be renamed 'Corso'.
Routes 688 and 689
•Both routes will be extended to service the new shops and medical centre on Bounty Boulevard, North Lakes
•The 'Library' stop at North Lakes will be renamed 'Corso'
•Minor route adjustment along Endeavour Boulevard from Memorial Drive.
Routes 690 and 695
•Minor timetable changes will be made, to keep connections with the new train timetables
•Very minor route changes will be made 695 services, providing a safer and more reliabile journey for passengers.
New timetables for these services will be available soon. Be sure to check back regularly, or call 13 12 30 for more information.

If you ask me, the big problem with Hornibrook is their inexplicable lack of Sunday services, and very poor frequency on trunk routes (eg hourly 680, 690 and/or 695 do not meet every train at Sandgate).  This is just tinkering really.

310/315 via RB&WH doesn't sound like a good idea to me.  These trips have a number of alternatives: walking from Bowen Hills, interchanging for the 393 there, or interchanging in the Valley.

Bligh government to deliver 47,000 extra bus seats per week

Commuters in Brisbane's north, south and west will be among the big winners when more than 47,000 additional weekly bus seats are added to the network next month.

Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said the package would be delivered in conjunction with the 6 June train timetables changes which will provide an additional 150,000 weekly seats to customers on the Rosewood, Ipswich, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines.

"This Brisbane bus package, together with the new train timetables will be the most significant enhancement to our network ever," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"It delivers the final piece of our commitment to add an additional 305,000 weekly seats to the network in the current financial year.

"This package will include two additional high frequency routes, providing turn-up-and-go services for those living along route 196 (New Farm to Fairfield via the CBD) and route 120 (Upper Mt Gravatt to CBD).

"There will be 19,000 additional weekly seats along route 120 to meet growth around Coopers Plains, Annerley, Salisbury, Tarragindi and Nathan.

"In New Farm, TransLink undertook community consultation on a restructure of service to deliver 19,000 additional weekly seats to the peninsula and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

"There is more good news in the west for Kenmore and Indooroopilly residents, and students and staff at the University of Queensland with an additional 9000 weekly seats on routes 427, 428 and 432.

"This package recognises that Indooroopilly train station will become an even more important hub in the network as it forms part of the new simplified express train stopping pattern.

"Customers travelling from Indooroopilly to UQ will have a bus at least every 10 minutes in peak and 15 minutes in off-peak.

"The Brisbane package, delivered by the Brisbane City Council, will have the potential to take up to 40,000 additional cars a week of some of our busiest corridors."

Ms Palaszczuk said in the current financial year seats have been added to the transport Network right across South East Queensland.

Err, no.

Get Ms Palaszczuk to call me when all lines are quarter hourly or better, and the buses actually connect.

Until then .... yawn.

somebody

I wouldn't be so negative as "yawn" Colin!

Upgrading the Indro-UQ service to BUZ standard is to be commended.  Ms Palaszczuk has talked a bit about getting the buses to connect also.

I would like her to stay the Transport Minister, but it seems like it isn't to be.

colinw

The yawn was poorly targetted.  :)

It was aimed at the hype.  Specifically ""This Brisbane bus package, together with the new train timetables will be the most significant enhancement to our network ever," "

I'm sure these are worthwhile bus service improvements.  But in terms of "most significant improvement to our network ever", get real!  Hype like that has no place when there are still half hourly rail services at places like Windsor, Dutton Park & Buranda!

Yes noticed this myself, in fact I made the short trip suggestion about 6 months ago so good to hear they are listening to feedback.

I sent them an email and received confirmation that an error had been made in the June 6 timetables, which is why the new service(s) are not showing up. They said that they will re-publish the timetable shortly.

I'd wonder if this service would be better provided by just having the 221/216 service stops between Cannon Hill and the City?

I thought that the 216 and 221 were reasonably well patronised so they probably won't provide much additional capacity. It would also slow the commute time for those outer suburbs. Having said that I was on an outbound 216 this afternoon and it only had about 20 pax.

It might be more suitable for the 216 and 221 to observe limited stops between Cannon Hill and the City - perhaps just a few of the more popular ones.

#Metro

QuoteWithin 500m (1 train station, 3 bus routes, 1 night bus) = 0 new seats

Within 1km (2 train stations, 12 bus routes, 1 night bus) = 0 new seats

In fact, BrizCommuter is not aware of a single extra seat on public transport this financial year within at least 3km of his home, which is only 5km from Brisbane's CBD. So whilst commuters in some parts of Brisbane have had significant service improvements (e.g new Ipswich and Caboolture Line timetables, high frequency 120 and 196 buses), some large swathes of Brisbane has not seen any improvements at all. This makes the "soon they'll be popping up near you" slogan rather misleading. Considering the January 2011 15% fare hike, and another 15% fare hike in January 2012 before another expected wave of service improvements, there are sure to be many disappointed public transport users (and possibly a few ex-public transport users too).

Waaa!!

Ok, a good waa-waa is justified. But on the other hand, there are over 200 bus routes in Brisbane, which at 2 BUZifications per year would take 100 years to get to decent 15 minute frequency. Even if that was only a portion, it is still a mammoth task. Hence developing a few frequent lines on a core frequent network, which can then have all the less frequent routes made feeders to at large shopping centres.

Much of Brisbane would be covered by decent core frequency if only the rail lines were made more frequent ALL DAY.

#Metro

Oh. And just be careful what you wish for too...

We could cover Brisbane in 198 style routes for every suburb and then claim that 99% of the city was covered by PT (useless PT that is).

The new short trip 227 morning service is still absent from the 6th June timetable. I called Translink to follow up about a week and a half ago and they would "look into it further". We went through Shafton Avenue this morning around 7:20am and were unable to pick up 8 passengers over a few stops due to being full.
