Route P88 - conversion to two routes

Route P88

Step 1: Split route P88 into P11 (8 Mile Plains to CBD). Service can continue to the CBD via Roma Street station, but then terminate at Countess Street turnaround.

Step 2: The second part of P88 is to become a BUZ 400 and extended to Centenary Suburbs. The amount of cash required to do this extension is thus greatly reduced.

People will complain but they can change to BUZ 444 and BUZ 400 at Roma Street.

Done!

Personally I think spending millions and millions of dollars to save someone a 30 second cross platform walk at Roma Street is a terrible use of $$$.

CUT THE 160!!!

We will have a P11, 111 and 160 going the exact same route, with 160 leaving from a separate illogical place in the CBD (QSBS). If you're worried about buses filling up before they leave eight mile plains, then have short working 111/P11 that leave from Garbo or Griffith.

Just put the 444 in QSBS B and you don't need the western part of the 88 at all.  It isn't hard.

It really is madness how things are done here.  Applying this logic to the rail system we would have 5 separate terminal stations in the city feeding the Beenleigh line.

I agree with HBU.  Kill the 160 and P88, and use the resources to run a CCB service instead with the same stop locations as the 111.  Also push for more BUZ services to use the CCB generally.

I can accept the 160 running in peak - PM peak start at the Cultural Centre.

Just make them 111s for simplicity's sake (or give Clarke's more resources and funding for 555s so BT can focus on additional frequencies on its network).  I don't even want to think about the LCBS fuel bill with all those 12L engined beasts running empty to and from the CBD from their depot at Loganlea - add extra counter-peak 555s.

It doesn't matter where "header" services originate, as long as they all end up at the same terminus and have the same stopping pattern.

With the opening of the NB, scrap the 111 and introduce the P000  :P from EMP to Chermside via Cultural Centre
P88 truncate to Roma St
Centenary BUZ 400 & 444 with terminus at KGSBS, so P000/P88 passengers can change at either KGSBS or Roma St.

To be honest I'd rather have both 400 and 444 go via Milton Rd & Western Fwy (mainly because frequency along Milton Rd is terrible, whereas Coro drive already has 411, 412, 430, 433, 445, which between them provide a decent level of service) and have an interchange at Moggill Rd overpass for 401 Kenmore BUZ via Indooroopilly/Toowong (this of course might actually replace the 430).

PM peak that means they need to reach 8mp, which increases service to the park and ride, something I don't think should be so encouraged.

AM peak - QSBS is a more attractive turnaround than Roma St.

That wouldn't look too good on the destination signs! The zeros resemble the letter O... (Similar problem if the 155 were to become prepaid.)  :o

Or a P333...  :hg

How is QSBS better for turnarounds than Roma Street? It's dumb having buses for one corridor leaving from two completely different parts of the CBD! I thought you were against that, Simon?
Not all 111s need to go to EMP anyway. If a service terminates at Garbo, pax can just wait for the next 111/555 with no real time lost.

Because from Roma St you need to continue up to the Normanby parking area before you can turn around - unless you exit the Skew St portal and return to the depot via the Skew St portal.

The world I was describing with a peak direction 160 only, wouldn't have the problem of buses leaving from different parts of the CBD, as O/B it only starts from the Cultural Centre.

I don't like variations - we are plagued with them.  I would be prepared to pay for the fairly minuscule extra running just to make the timetable nice and neat!

Hmm, I guess there would be more percentage in truncating the 88 to Garden City anyway, something which I would be very in favour of.
