Note the author of the article uses the term 'duplication' to mean a doubling of the track capacity.

I suggested that rather than an additional third line a doubling of the present capacity to 4 tracks would be better.  The corridor is capable of 4 tracks.

Note the author also uses duplication for the present Corinda to Darra upgrade which is again a doubling of the present double line.

So why was the idea of adding an extra car to the trains blasted?

Formal queues are a bit odd, but I suspect that this was just a random suggestion, and the media have seized upon this crumb and made it seem like some astronomical inconvenience has just been saved. Typical media. Did the gov seriously consider this idea? Probably not.

The queue logic is clear- cars at the extreme ends of the trains usually have less people than the middle. But the practicality is not clear at all.

Some discussion on that and queue lines in this thread:   http://backontrack.org/mbs/index.php?topic=2828.0

They really should jsut continue to redbank after they finish the corinda to Darra section.

though slightly off topic should we not be concerned that a car depenedant country liek the UAE has jsut finished there first metro yet we cant even start one. If a country that dependant on oil can build one then so can we. And the stations are absolutely stunning aswell.

So a quadruplification in other words   ;D

Yeah, but look at those tall buildings near the Dubai metro line. We have wide open spaces.
Interesting how the rental prices increase near the metro station. A good case to build TODs and sell them off/lease them.
