As I understand it, there is active stabling at Caboolture, Ipswich, Beenleigh, Robina and Mayne.  So my question is: how do they handle the first inbound/last outbound service(s) on the Ferny Grove, Shorcliffe and Cleveland lines?  Is there an empty move to/from Mayne?

Ferny Grove and Shorncliffe services stable at Mayne, Cleveland services either stable at Manly or Mayne.

EDIT: If memory serves me right, although I will double check.  The first Ferny Grove train is formed by a revenue service from Roma Street to Ferny Grove.  The first Cleveland train is formed by an empty service out of Manly.  Not sure on the Shorncliffe service.

EDIT No 2: The first Shorncliffe to City service is formed by an empty service from Mayne.  The first 3 Cleveland services are formed from empty services out of Manly.

Thanks.

Is there a need for an easier way to get between Mayne & the Ferny Grove line?

Nope...Mayne is already directly connected to the Ferny Grove line

Not for movements going to Ferny Grove. It only links the yards to Bowen Hills via the flyover.

Shorncliffe used to stable trains and its still a depot. They've got room for two 6-car units and there's no doubt they will start stowing trains there.

ButFli

I heard that the stabling at Shorncliffe is too close to houses and the residents complain about the noise.

A 6 car train is stabled at Cleveland overnight. A siding is accessed only from the station platform.

whoops...my bad...should've looked at the network maps before posting  :-[

That would explain why there are early morning services from Roma St to Ferny Grove - that had always puzzled me...

Used to, but not anymore.  Cleveland is no longer a stabling station.
