QuoteGold Coast/Robina line service update - effective 2 August 2009

Easy train connections to UQ

Over 75% of all Gold Coast line trains will now service Park Road station for easy interchange at the new Boggo Road busway station and a direct trip to UQ St Lucia campus.

This also means Dutton Park residents can access a number of Airtrain and Gold Coast line services for the first time.

It seems like a sensible idea for Gold Coast trains to stop at Park Rd as it is now has transfer with the Eastern Busway. However, I'm sure that PA Hospital Staff and UQ students from Logan and the Gold Coast would like the peak direction trains to stop at Park Rd as well.
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

But don't peak-direction Gold Coast trains travel on the 3rd road so they can overtake the all-stations trains? If that is the case they would have to stop at Platform 4 at Park Road and that platform is out of use. Isn't it? I thought that was why Gold Coast trains stopped stopping at Park Road?

STB

Platform 4 cannot be used.  Therefore any trains using the dual guage, cannot stop at Park Road.

Gold Coast/Airport trains dont stop at Park Road during peak anyway.  It was only changed so that off-peak and weekend GC-Airport trains stop there.

That was my point.

Peak-direction services aren't stopping at Park Road not because of a choice by QR but because the infrastructure doesn't allow it.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why can't platform 4 be used?
