Queensland:  Rail Ramps Up

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org)  a web based community support group for rail has congratulated  the Queensland Government and Queensland Rail on the commitment to invest a further $654 million in rolling stock and infrastructure for the coal export system.

Robert Dow said:

?The investment in new locomotives; primarily electric,  rolling stock and track infrastructure for support of coal exports is welcome news.

?Rail is the environmentally sustainable bulk transport solution.

?The SEQIP Rail program (1) is proceeding with duplications, triplications and new lines, and the welcome progressive introduction of new Queensland made Citytrain passenger trains.

?We are witnessing the beginnings of a new rail transport revolution.

?As the true environmental costs start to impact on transport generally, it is clear that rail will be the preferred sustainable transport option for freight and passengers for an ongoing environmentally friendly future.  This is smart!?
