Caloundra to get on board new bus services

Caloundra residents will be able to get on board several new bus services, which start on Sunday (28 June).

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said the Bligh Government was investing an extra $2.9 million to provide 157 new and additional bus services on the Sunshine Coast.

?These improvements will provide capacity for an extra 8400 passengers on the Sunshine Coast each week,? Ms Nolan said.

?In the Caloundra region, service enhancements will occur on routes 600, 602, 603, 605 and 607.

?Following a successful trial, southbound services on route 600 from Maroochydore to Caloundra will now permanently pick up and set down passengers at bus stops on Nicklin Way and in front of Kawana Shoppingworld.

?This will improve on-time running on route 600 by removing delays caused by entering and exiting the shopping centre car park, however southbound route 605 will continue to service the bus stop inside the shopping centre.

?Northbound buses along Nicklin Way on route 600 and route 602 which runs between Caloundra and Nambour via Maroochydore and Bli Bli, will also continue to stop inside the shopping centre.

?The timetables for routes 602 and 603 have been adjusted to improve on-time running and reduce congestion at the Caloundra bus interchange.

?Route 607 from Caloundra to Chancellor Park via the University of the Sunshine Coast bus station will become a faster and more reliable service with a new path using Dixon Road, the Sunshine Motorway and the new university bus station and ?Green Link?.?

Ms Nolan said several other Sunshine Coast bus timetables would change as a result of the enhancements coming on-line on Sunday (28 June).

?I encourage everyone to get a new timetable and make sure of changes in their local area before they come into effect on Sunday to avoid being caught unaware,? Ms Nolan said.

?The new services will be provided on the back of seven new low-floor air-conditioned buses and the provision of 35 new bus stops across the region for customers who did not previously have access to public transport.

?Several of these enhanced services will utilise the new $5.5 million University of Sunshine Coast bus station and ?Green Link?, which is scheduled to open later this week.?

New bus timetables for the service enhancements will be available online at www.translink.com.au, from local shopping centres and libraries.

Maroochydore to get on board new bus services

Maroochydore and Mooloolaba residents will be able to get on board several new bus services, which start on Sunday (28 June).

Transport and Main Roads Minister Rachel Nolan said the Bligh Government was investing an extra $2.9 million to provide 157 new and additional bus services on the Sunshine Coast.
