SEQ:  QR Citytrain on-time performance can be improved

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has said the deteriorating on-time train performance for QR Citytrain is simply a reflection of Government policy that allowed the network to run down.  Fining the operator is farcical, it is just taking away money that should be invested in the network.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Rail commuters have had enough.  The constant disruptions are costing them a lot of money through lost income, excess childcare charges and in some cases taxi fares. People are missing long standing appointments. Uncertainty and worry  is contributing to stress and effecting the well being of citizens."

"The constant network failures are putting a lot of stress and strain on QR staff as well."

"We have been highlighting these problems for years (1).  It is time QR Passenger was given the funding and the authority to run the trains on a properly maintained network.  That is what is needed."
