I noticed the new LCDs in the thoroughfare from the main food mall to the escalators up to Central Concourse, also new LCDs being installed on the corner of Edward and Adelaide St.  Floor of the walkway of the thoroughfare has been redone as well.  Starting to look a lot better.

Agree as well.  There should be LCD screens at every station.  I wonder if Translink are afraid that if stations have screens showing the next few trains people will actually leave the station as the next train is 20 or 30 mins away.

ALL stations need new screens, but in the meantime, which ones need an upgraded signage system most?

My nominations for top of the list would be:

1. South Brisbane Station - because it has a lot of trains on different routes, and is therefore confusing;
because it has a large number of non-commuters, who don't know the system; and because it services the Cultural Centre and South Bank, which attract people from outside Brisbane, who are even more easily confused (and may not have the English language skills to ask anyone for help)

2. Eagle Junction - because many people change there to and from the Airport line, and are therefore not commuters, often not local, and terminally jetlagged to boot!  And because I've been travelling through there for 5 years and more, and in all that time, they haven't fixed the broken digital display and it gets on my nerves!

3. Bowen Hills - another major change point where the current set up  is inadequate

Also park Road,South bank,northgate,Petrie the LED displays should be removed and the screens placed in the the current housing of the LED units.

I think Darra will need them soon as it will become a major interchange for the Ipswich and Springfield Lines (they might get stolen though  )

I can see a couple of issues with installing LCD screens in some stations.  For stations with limited cover, the LCD screens may not be bright enough.  Sufficient shading would need to be installed around the monitors.  Also, the height clearance may not be enough to install LCD screens under existing covers.

Of course - alternatives should still be sought for these stations - even if it's a combination of both LCD and LED.  (LCD in a common/entry area and LED on the platforms would suffice.)

what about building the screens into the sides of the station offices?

..and here I was thining that it would make sense to upgrade the Station as part of the plan to roll out the LCD screens.  But hey I am just a dreamer.
