Budget: $35 million
Scope

City Design?s expertise in landfill management and remediation has been critical in transforming the former Willawong Waste Disposal Site into a new bus despot.

The work includes:

    * hard-stand parking for 200 fixed bodied and articulated buses
    * bus refuelling for natural gas and diesel fuels
    * bus servicing workshop and bus washing facilities
    * administration building and parking for 280 vehicles
    * back-up power generator
    * hard and soft landscaping works

Innovation

City Design incorporated cost-saving initiatives and included practices promoting the concept of a 'green depot', which has a low environmental impact.

Good environmental outcomes are derived from the facility's landscape and design, including stormwater harvesting, reducing the 'heat island' effect and wind channelling.

Willawong Depot is having an open day this Sunday 19th from 10am till 2pm...Address is Sherbrooke Road, Willawong.
Operations commence April 27 with the very first service departing the depot around 4:30am..

I got there at 1:30 and had a look around.. Very spacious compared to where I work. Had to enter the closed part of Sherbrook rd to drive up to the depot..
