Queensland:  2009 State Election  - Rail for rail!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport users congratulated the LNP and the Greens for putting forward some key transport policies in the early stages of the state election campaign this week.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Today's policy announcement by the LNP concerning the Petrie to Kippa-Ring railway is a sound plan.  Something RAIL Back On Track has long campaigned for, and we welcome it."

"The Greens free travel plan for commuters under 21 years of age is a welcome contribution to the debate.  The Green plan to extend the City-Cat will also add some further public transport options if implemented."

"We look forward to some new policy announcements from the Labor Party as there has not been anything of impact at this stage from our perspective."

"I came home this evening on the 4.38pm Ipswich service from Roma St.  A quick estimate for the loading was around 1100 passengers as the train left Roma St.  The train an Electric Multiple Unit really is only comfortable for an effective loading of 750 passengers.  Passengers are tired of the congestion. More trains and rail crew are needed."

"The LNP and Greens have thrown up some positive policies.  Do we just get more of the same from a returned Labor Government?"
