Today I was fortunate enough to visit the duplication project from Caboolture to Beerburrum.

We travelled to Beerburrum where Trackstar were kind enough to show us around.

Thanks Trackstar.

This is a high class project, the line is built for 160Km running (tilts).  Commissioning date is 26 Dec 2008.

We travelled to Beerburrum on SMU211/212

Thanks for the update Bob.
You are spot on - this is a very high quality project.

You would have noticed that the line is triplicated just north of Caboolture to just south of Elimbah. This is for the stabling of long freight during peak periods.
Cross overs are all 80kph swing nose type.

The next stage to Landsborough will be even more significant!!!
Keep up the great work Trackstar!!! :-t

i guess that beerburrum staiton wasnt even woth keeping so they completely rebuilt it.I do hope that the old station is demolished.

Some further points picked up yesterday.
Thanks for mentioning the triple extension being maintained from CAB to a point before Elimbah Brad.  This will be useful for staging freight trains as you suggest.

The whole rail corridor has been done with a view to eventual quadruplication.  You can note the wide corridor in the photos above.

The new stations at Elimbah and Beerburrum are identical.  They don't have toilets though!
The platforms are raised platforms on columns, with wire gages to stop entry underneath.  This is a cheaper method of construction. They are high level.

Environmental concerns have been actively managed. For example prior to the construction 76 amphibians, 320 mammals and 410 reptiles were relocated with the assistance of the Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warriors.

About 55km track laid. 527 OHT masts in place.

Community engagement by Trackstar has been very active.

Good job all round!

So lets have a trip up there folks!
Who wants to come for the day on the 29th December!

We can get the 8am Nambour service from Central.

Thanks for sharing the pics bob.

On a related note, earthworks for the Beerburrum to Landsborough duplication has already started.  The fields south of Beerburrum already has construction machines and markings in formerly private land, whilst south of Beerwah in conjunction with the overpass construction there are already markings in the area.

Also, makes me wonder, will the Sunshine Coast timetable be adjusted in 2009 in accordance with the works?

Some suburban/freight and/or suburban/traveltrain crossings I'm thinking will be shifted to Beerburrum?
Rgds,

Seriously Why no toilets! I am expecting that 90% of services are IMUs then
.

Also is there a reason for why the new stations are separate platforms?  Or has Q got a preference for theses over island platforms?
