FREE ENTRY TO CELEBRATE The WORKSHOPS rail MUSEUM?S 5TH anniversary

Ipswich residents and past and present workers of QR will receive free entry to The Workshops Rail Museum on Sunday 12 August.

The Annual Workers Reunion and Ipswich Residents Open Day will coincide with the Museum?s fifth anniversary of opening.

Museum Director Andrew Moritz said the Workers Reunion keeps the history of the North Ipswich Railway Workshops alive.

?The stories we hear at the Worker?s Reunion highlight the impact of the site on the development of rail in Queensland and the lives of many people,? he said.

The Queensland Rail Institute will join in the celebrations providing morning tea for QR workers.

The Annual Workers Reunion is held in conjunction with the Ipswich Residents Open Day.

Thanks to the generous support of Ipswich City Council, all Ipswich residents receive free entry for the day (proof of is residency required).

Mayor of Ipswich Cr Paul Pisasale said he was delighted to offer residents the opportunity to experience such an important part of Ipswich?s history.

Local school students will also be part of the celebrations, showcasing National Science Week displays.

The Workshops Rail Museum is a campus of the Queensland Museum and is located at North Street, North Ipswich.
