More lines, more trains, more everything?

I live in Darra. I've used trains all my working life, which is a fair while! If you are travelling to the cbd, or anywhere in between, things could improve but are not impossible. However, for a while I worked at Dutton Park, then at Cannon Hill. Getting to these destinations via train meant travelling first to the city, then changing to another line -effectively, approx 1hour to Dutton Park, around 90mins all up to Cannon Hill. I could have travelled to Dutton Park via the line that goes from Corinda through to South Brisbane - except that I couldn't, as there were no trains running the whole distance, at the right time, that I could catch from Darra. There used to be a morning train that ran from Darra to South Brisbane via this line, but they discontinued it. What we need are more lines connecting areas which at the moment remain accessible only via inconvenient routes.

Welcome 2catscan!

I live in Darra too.  Small world!!   :)

You raise some very valid points.  RAIL Back On Track has been suggesting for a while now that the trains presently terminating at Corinda actually run through to Darra. As you know, there are 3 platforms in use at Darra, and of course the 4th unused platform can be reopened too.  This would give a 15 minute off peak frequency during the day for Oxley and Darra Stations, both busy stations.  Some of these trains could easily be routed through Yeerongpilly on their way to the City and other destinations.  There are many folk who could avoid going into the CBD if they could go via a more direct route.

Time now to plan for rail connections such as Ferny Grove to Mogill to Riverview, Ipswich to Beenleigh, Petri to Kippa-Ring for some possible examples.
