3800 class electric locos

Does anyone know how many of the 3800 class electric locos are now on Queensland rails and how many of these are now actually in service, rumor has it that they have problems and are stored awaiting modifications, confirmation please.
Also on the subject of electric locos is there any intention to return the unmodified 39oo class locos to general service duties, there is a lot of wire virtually unused other than for one electric tilt train each way each day between Gympie and Rockhampton, a greatly underutilised asset at the present time.
