First time I've heard of the LNPs plan to increase bus services at Geebung Station. Anyone else know any more details about this 'plan' or is it simply a baseless claim made by a candidate in the hopes it gets votes?

Yeah I saw it in the media as well. It's legit.

Interesting. Do we have any more information on it other than 'more buses'? Will there be new routes to service the local area or will they divert existing routes?

The LNP will deliver more feeder bus services to take commuters to Geebung Station and the nearby shops 🚌🚊

Locals know that the Geebung Station carpark is full every single morning. Overflow parking reduces accesibility, restricts access to local businesses and frustrates neighbours.

We have a plan to provide direct, frequent and convenient bus services to the station and surrounding shops, schools and services to make public transport accessible.

This is good to see that a LNP candidate has recognised the need for improved feeder buses.

But needs to happen all over.   :ok:

The following reply to a comment indicates that it's just a thought on paper. No specifics yet.

QuoteThanks Alex. The exact bus feeder service frequency, route and stops will be determined in due course with stakeholder engagement and Government process should we be elected.

The intent of the bus feeder service is to align a frequent and direct bus service with the many existing local travel patterns in Geebung that currently have little to no bus option to complete their local trip.

From our analysis and community feedback to date, we believe a best option could involve a frequent, bi-directional corridor bus service along Robinson Road that connects locals from their homes on buses to Geebung Rail Station, shops at Aspley and Geebung, local schools, and jobs to the east of the rail line toward Virginia.

This type of bus feeder service is also aimed at taking parking pressure off both the carpark at Geebung Station which is at capacity, and the local streets which has subsequent over flow parking, taking up space for local residents and businesses.

Saw this from ABC News today:

$1 billion budgeted over about 4 years to fund 50c fares.  :-w  :yikes:

And that's just funding the existing patchy level of service, not new PT services.

That money would be far better used on actual new High Frequency bus and train service IMHO.

Couriermail --> Qld election 2024: David Crisafulli's ambitious plan in first 100 days as Premier $

QuoteAfter a hard-fought and successful campaign, there will be no time to rest for the LNP with Premier David Crisafulli outlining an ambitious plan for his government's first 100 days in office.

Mr Crisafulli became Queensland's newest premier, with Sky News reporting the LNP would form a majority government. ...

... Then in the coming month an independent Olympics authority will be set up and ministers will get KPIs which they must meet, or be demoted.

An independent Infrastructure Coordination Authority will be set up to map out infrastructure and transport needs for the 2032 Games, which will report in 100 days.

The 50 cent public transport fares will be made permanent.

The real cost of Cross River Rail and its completion date will be released.
