Maybe Bob can help out with some local knowledge here, but why is the westbound stop not located directly opposite the eastbound one?

To make matters worse, in order to access a controlled crossing, one must cross Hopener Rd, then Brisbane Rd, then Whitwoid Rd. Three crossings (with additional wait times) to cross one road. It's almost like the local authorities don't give a flying f#@k about pedestrians or public transport users.

Edit: forgot to mention, the shelter for this stop is about 20 metres east of the actual stop!

I think the west bound stops are located where they are to allow better access from residences.

I don't there is much that can be one with the way the roads are there.

The cafe across the road from the station does really good fish and chips, hamburgers etc.

I've raised this with TL before, there are two stops name Ebbw Vale station a few 00m from each other.  It seems weird

I don't know what the standard is for naming bus stops.  There are an enormous number of them (especially in Brisbane) which reflect things that no longer exist (Salvin Park, Old Stockyards etc), or the names of streets that aren't even the closest street on either side of the road, or features that the bus stop has moved away from due to being relocated or rebuilt.

For bog standard on road bus stops, it should be something very simple like:

[Road bus stop is on] at / approaching / after [nearest crossing street on same side of the road as the bus stop]

Business names shouldn't be used, especially for shopping centres (eg Garden City B should be "Upper Mt Gravatt station stop "B") - just the names of adjacent stations or stops on other modes, or obvious landmarks that are in public hands or very unlikely to change names readily like parks, schools etc.  There should only be limited exceptions to this - for instance, I'm not sure what else you could call the bus stops within Pacific Fair.

Individual bus stop numbering should be abandoned unless they come up with a consistent regionwide system that works, and I'm not sure they can.  It works in Adelaide because most routes are radial and they keep a much tighter rein on things than TransLink, but nobody else bothers with it.  (It was used on the Gold Coast Hwy services many years ago - I remember the main stop for Burleigh Heads was stop 42 - but not elsewhere on the Gold Coast.)
