In general, the power for the rail is separate from the normal domestic/business power grid.
That is why sometimes the power for trains can fail but the local supplies are fine.

The only line out at the moment not planned is FG according to Citytrain.

Planned closures:

Quote(Major Track Work from Roma Street to South Brisbane / Corinda: Sunday 16 Nov
line
From 7.20pm to last train on Sunday 16 November 2008, all QR Passenger Citytrain services between Corinda and Roma Street and South Brisbane and Roma Street stations will be replaced by bus services.

Buses will convey passengers from South Brisbane to Roma Street stations with a connecting train service to Brisbane City, Caboolture, Shorncliffe, Doomben and Ferny Grove lines departing Roma Street station, and a connecting train service to Beenleigh, Cleveland and the Gold Coast departing South Brisbane station.

Buses will also stop all stations between Roma Street and Corinda stations on the Ipswich line with connecting train service to Ipswich departing Corinda, and trains to Brisbane City, Caboolture, Shorncliffe, and Ferny Grove lines departing Roma Street station.)

QuoteMajor Track Work from Petrie and Gympie North: Friday 14 Nov - Sunday 16 Nov
line
From 11.50pm Friday 14 November to last train Sunday 16 November 2008, all QR Passenger Citytrain services between Petrie and Gympie North stations will be replaced by bus services.

Buses will stop all stations between Petrie and Gympie North stations with a connecting train service to Brisbane City.

I caught the 20:08 Bowen Hills to Enoggera this evening on my home from work. All Northbound services were approx 15 mins late, with major confusion over who was driving what train at Bowen Hills not helping matters. According to Translink website the FG Line is suspended beyond Mitchelton, however the guard seemed to think it was going to Ferny Grove going by announcements.
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

Good thing it wasnt a weekday!
On another not more trackwork on the cleveland line this weekend this is I think the 9th time this year.Though i do think that the ride is now a lot smoother than it used to be.must be the removal and replacement of the old wooden sleepers.

Bus, train delays

QuoteBus, train delays
Shannon Molloy | November 17, 2008 - 9:07AM

The derailment of four containers on a freight train at Caboolture last night sparked a chemical scare and has forced the closure of the inbound and outbound lines.

One wagon was carrying a form of pesticide chemical but fire crews have this morning inspected the scene and declared it safe, a Queensland Rail spokesman said.

The incident occurred at a level crossing at McKean Street about 11.15pm but the cause of the derailment is still being investigated.

Crews are working to re-rail the train's wagons but passenger services on the Caboolture/North Coast line are expected to be disrupted until at least 1.30pm.

TransLink has arranged for buses to replace train services between Caboolture and Elimbah stations.

Meanwhile, repairs are still being carried out today on damaged sections of the urban rail network on the Ferny Grove line.

Maintenance crews worked through the night to repair overhead lines that were damaged when storms ravaged the area late yesterday.

Buses have replaced trains at all stations between Ferny Grove and Mitchelton this morning. Significant delays are expected.

Numerous bus services across the city have also been disrupted as a result damage caused by the storms.

A number of streets have also been affected with police expecting delays in the following areas:

* Flamingo Drive and South Pine Road, Albany Creek (lights out)

* Beckett Road and Albany Creek Road, Bridgemen Downs (lights out)

* Southern side of Albany Creek Rd between Bronson Road and Keong Street (tree and debris on road)

* Samford Road between Gilliat Street and Upper Kedron Road at Ferny Grove (one side of road open)

* Anzac Avenue and Discovery Drive, Northlakes (lights out)

* Anzac Avenue and Northlakes Drive (lights out)

* On ramp to Bruce Highway Southbound and Northbound - Northlakes
Gympie Road and Sampsonvale Street Strathpine

The Ferny Grove Line (as far as Mitchelton) was surprisingly running on time today. Credit to QR for running trains on time despite having to use an alternative reversing point.

I have heard reports from work colleagues of some Caboolture Line trains being very overcrowded due to disruptions on the North Coast Line.

The trains that usually would proceed to Nambour were terminating at Caboolture today as a result of the derailment between Caboolture and Elimbah.  Very interesting peak hour and I've never seen so much people on the Platform at Elimbah in the evening peak (transferring services).  The loop platform (the full length platform at Elimbah) was used for terminating trains whilst the main road (the disused short platform) was used for turnbacks.
