20 people boarded bus at station. That's equivalent of about $350,000 worth of parking spaces, and less local traffic congestion

For a fare increase/decrease of $1, how many people are shifted?

The reason why I ask is because cost = ticket price + (waiting time x value of time).

The second part of the equation is likely to dominate in off-peak times, while in peak times the first part of the equation is likely to dominate (as areas are flooded with rockets).

It is not clear what the values are for South East Queensland, quite murky actually, though plenty of data should be there from the massive fare increases to work out values... >:D

Decent service outside peak would also mean that people would travel out of peak - as peak times are the only times when there is decent service in their area, particularly in Brisbane.

I would like to see a single concession rate rather than peak/off peak examined. Concession travels at flat rate all day, including peak hour. Everyone else has peak fare in peak and concession rate in the off peak.

Anyway, very complex and I'm sure the full smorgasbord of options will pop out in due course.

Sewage, garbage collection and paved roads are, for obvious reasons, vital, and can be provided only from outside. But even more important, in the well-informed view of slum-dwellers, are buses: affordable and regular bus service into the neighbourhood is often the key difference between a thriving enclave and a destitute ghetto.

How the Largest Migration in History is Reshaping Our World.

And maybe Matt Longland can also have a copy to remind him to grow a pair?
