I suggested Yandina would have been a better stabling site when this was being planned.

None of the noise/space issues that apparently beset Woombye.

I don't take much notice of anything TMR staff do or say.

Why wouldn't a yard at Yandina make noise?

I have heard the noise loud and clear but it is not picked up by phone microphones.
I am told that they are designed to exclude continuous noises.

Clear ground.  There was a lot more space there from residences etc.

These 4 NGR trains are stabled in the open.
There is no roof or enclosure.

Sometimes I'm a bit skeptical about these complaints.
The group has been around a while and have never liked the stabling since day 1, and I tend to find anti groups get a bit obsessed and pick on every possible problem thereafter, to the point of picking up dead birds and claiming it is louder than a TV inside a house.

Saw the same behaviour when the Sherwood bus depot was built.

Or right now with GC light rail, where they took one photo of a koala on the track and Parkwood, and have since run with it for this whole narrative that LR disorients and kills koalas.

Or people on the central coast claiming a large puddle well below rail height was "site flooding"

Noise is a perceptive matter, and when you are in a very quiet rural location, things that aren't loud to a city dweller will be to someone like in this situation.

Having the same problem at my father's at the moment. His ducted AC outdoor unit is rated to 71dB max volume, but at night the neighbours who are 30 metres away complain about the volume. At that distance it should only be around 42dB, but to the neighbour it is still loud.

Yeah exactly, the humming noise in the dropbox link just sounds like Qld suburbia on a summer night when everyone in the neighbourhood has an AC on, the insects are louder. Bloke needs to stop being so soft.

What's the dB actually being received at the neighbours?

Long term,  its only going to get louder in the suburb as the number of freight trains increases as the stage 2 upgrades will be taking back more freight from the bruce.

Also, explain why is it only Woombye residents generating these complaints, and not the new stabling yards at Banyo etc that also hold idling NGRs much closer to residents.

Furthest distance from residents, the smallest yard of the lot, yet has the biggest backlash  :conf
