Queensland Rail Corridor Airspace Perfect for Social/Affordable Housing

    There are plenty of places where the rail lines are in a cutting that could be developed for social/affordable housing.

    I'll start

    • Inbound side of Morningside Station
    • Between Central and The Valley Stations
    • South of South Bank Station
    • Upper Roma Street
    • south-west of Toowong
    • Burns Rd - south of Toowong
    • south off Bowen Hills
    • Swan Rd, Taringa

    I'll keep looking for locations but add away in the meantime.

I understand the sentiment but it's cheaper to build on regular vacant land, which is why airspace development basically never happens in Australia

I think it would actually make a lot of sense to build above more stations first. Living above a station is extremely convenient!

Assuming you own the land! Not saying this is instead of building on park n rides/stations. It is in addition

Yes, there are also issues with building above rail corridors due the effect of possible restrictions on freight that might be carried.

I don't think this is really practical, there are better options in my view to co-locate adjacent to stations etc.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
