I think my answer on this has to be more than just a binary yes/no

Jonno

road first even when building active and public transport.

Cazza

I'm not confident in any transport minister to deliver much needed public and active transport investments in a road based organisation.

Remove him from that and I do feel he could do a lot more in this space. He does seem to have his head switched on and is very aware of what should be done. He's very active in the active transport space and quite proactive, particularly in his local community. Mark does just seem to get too caught up in playing the blame game and having to push out junk like the Coomera Connector etc.

I have met and understand there are a number of switched on people in TMR that would thrive in a true PT agency. It's a real shame it hasn't reverted back to that since Newman played his role in things...

He blocks anyone who raises induced demand in posts so I don't believe for a second that "he does seem to have his head switched on and is very aware of what should be done."

Thanks, but I'm entitled to my opinion. I've put many comments with constructive feedback on his posts and am yet to be blocked. I'm well aware of his actions and presence on social media (as he is the Minister for Social Media afterall :hg ) but this is all just politics. I can't say I've met him in person but he does appear to be a genuine

I'm not condoning transparency or backlash issues (as most would be aware of Labor's current state of affairs). I'm simply saying that he does have an idea of the transport space, sometimes political influence and agenda gets in the way.

I'm hearing you Cazza.  Well said.

The problems are larger than a Minister.  Minister Bailey is a strong supporter of active transport and at times public transport.  But the major part of his portfolio is roads, and roads dominates within TMR.  For this reason I have argued consistently that we need a proper public transport authority, stand alone with a dedicated Minister.  The looming Olympic Games I think makes this an opportune time to do it.

Interesting result.  Although a small focus group in effect, it suggests the spin and bullsh%t is not cutting through

The lack of transparency is starting to show as well.

You need to heed the message  :lu:  :lu:

There are a few members here who have been blocked on Social Media in their personal capacity for questioning or raising inconvenient views.

It's not a good sign.

Carmaggeddon, it's more like Karmageddon is what will happen.

The conflict of interest between a transport and main roads Minister needs to end.
It needs to be separate roles and separate departments.

I support a call for dedicated public transport authority independent of Transport and Main Roads.
