As expected it continues the bus-centric transport focus of the BCC.  The sad fact is that the BCC is already struggling with the buses and the river and it is probably time that the State Government took over transport and provided proper integrated public transport for all. 

Belatedly it seems the State Government is finally starting to expand the rail network.

Yep, same old report, just a different date.
The tram saga is like a light switch - on/off, on/off, all the answers rest in the basement of City Hall - we HAD an extensive tram network, go take a peek.
I really cannot see the point in any govt local or state writting anymore reports - sorry, reports do not pick-up people and move them!  Most, if not all the issues raised in this latest report have been on the table before.  Again, most of the timeframes put forward are just hopless, the system is close to completely broke NOW, forget 2026 in some cases!  Ozbob with you all the way, the State of Queensland needs to, at long last, take full responsibility for her Capital City and resources it as a Capital City - not still an overgrown country town.  The State should put the hard word on the Feds, we need around $12b worth of public transport infrastructure funding for this City over the next 3-5yrs - that's chook feed for the Commonwealth over that time frame with surpluses coming from the resources boom - to give Aust's 3rd largest City and fastest growing Capital, the type of public transport infrastructure a million more people will need - NO MORE WAIST OF TIME LOCAL GOVT "REPORTS".

Now, what are chances of any of the above ACTIONS actually happening?

Thank you for sharing your views through the Brisbane City Council Mass Transit discussion forum held in July. The Mass Transit engagement was highly successful with over 3000 unique visitors to the webpage and more than 500 contributions.

Mass Transit Taskforce Report
The Mass Transit Taskforce has released its report which proposes a bus rapid transit system rather than light rail because:
- it could be operating within three to five years
- Brisbane's existing busways could be adapted rapidly and easily to accommodate a bus rapid transit service
- there would be less impact on road traffic operation, both during and after construction

The key recommendations include:
- a network of high capacity buses (up to 160 passengers) from West End to Newstead from 2010
- an inner city orbital network linking Spring Hill, Roma Street and a proposed bridge at Kangaroo Point from 2010
- a network with a Hamilton-Woolloongabba line from 2016 and Bulimba connection via a Green Bridge to this from 2026
