That is the thing that annoys me most from a numbering perspective, magnified by the fact they haven't changed the 688/689 numbering!

Minor timetable and service changes are being made to bus services across Brisbane's northern suburbs, Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast region.

Last updated: 9.43am Friday 23 September 2016

This is a result of other network changes associated with the opening of the new Redcliffe Peninsula train line.

Route 649 changes

Route 649 is a railbus, servicing train stations between Caboolture and Nambour to cover gaps in the current Sunshine Coast line timetable.

From Tuesday 4 October, trains on the Sunshine Coast line will run every 90 minutes, with more improvements planned with the opening of the Woombye stabling yards in 2017.

This means there are less gaps in the train timetable that need to be filled with a railbus and, as a result, we're reducing the number of route 649 services from 26 to 16.

To provide a more consistent and easier to understand timetable, route 649 will also service every station between Caboolture and Nambour.

Route 649 will still operate Monday to Friday only.

Bribie Island buses timetable changes

As a result of wider changes in the Caboolture network, minor timetable changes are being made to services in Bribie Island on Tuesday 4 October.

This simply means your bus may arrive or depart earlier or later than it currently does.

Effected routes are:

    641
    642
    643
    644

Make sure you check your new timetable or plan your journey before you travel.

Buses connecting to Caboolture and Sunshine Coast line trains

To allow for the new services on the Redcliffe Peninsula line, some timetable changes need to be made to trains on the Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines.

This means that, on Tuesday 4 October, we also need to change timetables of connecting buses. Make sure you check your new timetable or plan your journey before you travel.

There will be no other changes to these services - it just means your bus may arrive or depart earlier or later than it currently does.

Was wondering why I saw those plastered up and down Maundrell Terrace. Then it hit me. The single 338 service haha.

I'm planning on getting the very last outbound P315 tonight from Queen St to the terminus in Scarborough.  Scheduled departure is at 6:45pm.

Broke down on St Paul's Tce heading down!

Replacement had to be scrambled, ended up leaving CBD 55 min late but picked up about 15 min when we hit Scarborough.

Passengers were very lively and festive - really had to see it to believe it.  The regulars know the drivers quite well so was very jovial (and loud).  More than a bit of dancing in the aisles.

Took it yesterday for the last time(3.20pm inbound).
Definitely going to miss that route.....for its relatively low off-peak patronage it was offset by its no fuss runs from the city to Scarborough/Redcliffe.. also for its perfect connection to the woody point routes for anyone wanting a quick trip there.

Something I wont miss is the extremely bumpy ride between Toombul and bowen hills. Probably the bumpiest ride across the network. Definitely due to the lack of suspension in those buses they were using...

Minister for Transport and the Commonwealth Games
The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe

New bus network to complement Redcliffe Peninsula Line

Revenue services will start today after the successful opening of the Redcliffe Peninsula Line, with a new bus networking connecting passengers and delivering more frequent and efficient services to the region.

Minister for Transport Stirling Hinchliffe said starting this week, the new network would offer an additional 157 daily trips with 17 bus services connecting to train stations along the new Redcliffe Peninsula Line.

"The new network design has been influenced by more than 3000 community responses, as well as local travel data, to ensure we are delivering the most effective network for this region," Mr Hinchliffe said.

"With connections to the Redcliffe Peninsula Line, this new network will help to create an integrated public transport system that will improve access for the whole community.

"The network has been designed to ensure locals receive more efficient and reliable services, with more daily trips and increased frequency.

"We will also see services introduced to new and growing areas for the first time, ensuring emerging and developing areas of the community are catered for."

Mr Hinchliffe said the new network would improve the way locals used public transport in the region. The new bus network will feature:

Better access to bus services with increased operating hours on nine routes on the existing network every weekday
Increased weekend operating hours on eight routes
An additional 157 trips each weekday and 104 trips every weekend
31 per cent of residents will now be within 400m of a high frequency morning service, up from seven per cent in the existing network
Nearly the entire region, or 98 per cent of residents, will be within a 400m of a Sunday service, up from 79 per cent currently.

Minister Hinchliffe said the Redcliffe Peninsula Line was Moreton Bay's biggest public infrastructure project in more than 100 years.

"The new rail line will deliver more than 650 train services a week between Kippa-Ring and Brisbane, with trains running every six to 12 minutes in morning and afternoon peaks, and every 30 minutes in off-peak periods and during weekends," Minister Hinchliffe said.

"For the first time, local residents will be connected to a fast, reliable rail service, with a journey into the Brisbane CBD taking less than an hour."

New bus timetables are available by visiting translink.com.au, on-board buses, at local libraries or tourist information centres, or by calling 13 12 30.

Information sessions on the new services will be held locally at the following locations:

Date Location Time

Tuesday 4 October Peninsula Fair 9am - 5pm

Thursday 6 October Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre 9am - 5pm

Saturday 8 October Westfield North Lakes 9am - 5pm

Sunday 9 October Redcliffe Jetty Markets 6am - 2pm

Or changed the sign colours, or used the large dot matrix signs

Quite frankly I think they should have sent everyone in the area a 90 page book about the changes. Get it together translink  :thsdo

Yope.  They had extensive community consultation for months, local media, local information stands and so forth.  Why would they hand out a 90 page guide to your new public transport network to all the residents?  Seems like bit of an over-kill ...  I mean with the signs on the bus stops and the rest of the saturation information in media and the various presentations on the new network?

Even in the news video, there is a large green sticker flag attached to the bus stop saying that there are changes.

Big books arriving on your doorstep is so 1990s!

But hey? ;)
