Public Transport Infrastructure Manual

"The public transport infrastructure manual (PTIM) applies best practice planning and design principles to public transport infrastructure. It defines the elements of good public transport facilities, helps with evaluating existing facilities and should be used as a design tool when developing new infrastructure within the TransLink network. Nice to see an update. The 2012 edition of this was a very interesting read.

Looks good.

In terms of the fundamentals, TransLink seems to have an obsession with one-way access and circulation through its bus interchanges, which results in big one way loops for one direction of a service a lot of the time - compared with the "dogbone" interchange style used for a number of the Mandurah line stations which makes it easier to duck in and out from either end.

Bus Network Infrastructure Signage Manual

There doesn't seem to be any mention of the various conflicting signage standards in this - no more "flag" type signs, BCC/qconnect type signs or the like.  Hopefully they start to eliminate the branding differences, as it seems they have cottoned on that they don't make any sense and that they only need a basic J-pole or an expanded blade sign Statewide.

Note they do continue to state the BCC version of the blade has a single wide panel rather than an A2 and an A3 panel combined like it is elsewhere - also the J-pole is still only for "outside BCC".
