Lutwyche Station TOD?

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the forum. I live at Upper Mount Gravatt and while I'm not any expert on infrastructure, urban planning, etc. (I'm a sound and lighting technician by trade), I'm a keen "enthusiast" for public transport infrastructure, so to speak. Sent an email to Bob, love seeing what you guys do in this group, and thought this forum would be a great place I could come and speak to like-minded people.

Was wondering if anyone could answer me this question. I apologise if it's been answered previously on the forum somewhere, but I couldn't find anything.
Lutwyche busway station has a large amount of "green field" around it where the cut-and-cover tunnels were dug. Sadly it seems these huge blocks of land have simply set idle since the busway station there was built. I see those huge bits of empty land around a major public transport station as a huge waste. Does anyone know if there are any plans for developing this land? I could see it being used as a fantastic TOD opportunity (high density residential, urban village hub with shops, etc.) considering its proximity to the station. I recognise there's probably going to be some limitations to what can be built above it considering there's a great big tunnel right beneath it, but surely ANYTHING is better land use than the current empty blocks? Even a public park would be nicer than the plain grass that's currently there.

Ah you're right, didn't notice the discrepancy between the image and real life. I was driving through there the other day though and I did notice there's still a lot of empty land. Although if there's apartments going up on some of it, I'm assuming it's only a matter of time before the rest of it fills up. Thanks!
