Brisbane:  Council budget continues focus on public and sustainable transport

RAIL ? Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community organisation for the promotion of rail throughout Australia has congratulated the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Councillor Campbell Newman and the Brisbane City Council for the maintaining the focus on public and sustainable transport in the 2007/2008 budget.

Robert Dow said:

?Transport options in Brisbane continue to be improved.  More buses for Brisbane will give more passenger accommodation, but also will allow for implementation of novel routes to feed railway and bus stations to avoid the parking problems at these locations.  The continued support for the Personalised Public Transport service using maxi taxis is encouraging.?

?RAIL Back On Track acknowledges the efforts to further advance integration of bus timetables with the railway timetables where appropriate. This will go a long way to encouraging citizens to utilise public transport as their preferred means of commuter travel.  This will in turn help to ease road congestion in Brisbane.?
