The Advertiser --> Adelaide public transport users face single fare price rise from July $

Adelaide commuters purchasing single trips to travel short distances on public transport are paying the highest fares in the country – and they're about to go up.

A single bus, train or tram trip will currently set users back $4.25 during peak travel times regardless of the distance travelled or mode of transport taken.
And commuters face a 15 cents hike to $4.40 on the MetroCard single fare come July.

Current prices compare to a $4 adult peak fare paid by Sydney metro and train customers travelling up to 10 kilometres. ...

ABC News --> Adelaide rail extensions to be investigated with new funding in South Australia's budget

... The planning works will examine upgrades to the southern end of the train line, including taking the Seaford line towards Aldinga.

The government has already secured a 60-metre-wide corridor of land from Quinliven Road to Aldinga Beach Road for the extension of that line.

In Adelaide's north, the study will look at where the Gawler line could be extended to the Barossa, using the existing rail corridor.

ABC News has also been told the planning works could also investigate what would be required to extend services to Mount Barker.

Electrifying the train lines, which are already served by diesel trains, will also form a part of the project. ...

This is quite big. Mt Barker will be added to the Go Zone network, with services every 15 mins off peak.

It will take 50 mins to get from Mt Barker to the city.
Something worth raising with our reps here.

There have long been calls for rail to the Adelaide hills, but this is a good interim step that gives a good service to a fast growing area.
