Took 80 mins from Elimbah to Boondall this morning.  Driver Took Scenic route via Petrie instead of sitting in the North Lakes/Bald Hills congestion due to earlier accident.

The road network is a true basket case in Brisbane and environs.  One incident and it just cascades into a monumental failure.

More of the same is not going to do much, it will in fact make it even worse for most in the longer term.

At least the Redcliffe Peninsula line will help some escape the madness!

the "Brisbane city and Zillmere train" announcements on the ippy line have been interesting :P

Interesting.  Would've thought the Sunshine Coast line would've been given the same OTR measurements as the Rosewood Shuttles this week (eg terminate at Ipswich) due to all services terminating at Caboolture this week (within the 6 min window).

Well despite the prophecies of chaos it never happened.

It will generally increase journey time replacing class A ROW travel with travel on roads prone to congestion, simple fact of life.

I think overall the arrangements were done well.  Thank you to all involved.

Pictures later but all looks to be done at Petrie and Lawnton.

Working on points south of Petrie from P2 to P1, nothing critical as PN007 has just crawled through with a freighter northbound.

North of Petrie. The Down Main to Up Main points that have been added are in the shot.

Lawnton looking north.

The issue is south of boondall, near the nudge tip. Might improve services if anything by holding the traffic back.

ozbob

Righto!  Some drivers have been caught up for 2 hours ..   :o

You might be right, Gatway might be the best bet then as other roads clag due to cars avoiding the mess!

Wife will be happy to hear.

Her Boondall to Dakabin bus went via Strathpine for absolutely no reason tonight.

Collected 5 Free Coffee Cards on the 3 days of my Railbus adventures.

Reporting on the last day of the Railbus on the return journey, left Roma Street at 5:04pm, left Boondall at 5:55pm (driver took the Gateway route) and we're only 10-15 minutes out of Landsborough on the Steve Irwin Way.  Only 15-20 minutes later than the usual equivalent (5:00pm Roma Street to Landsborough with the normal arrival time of 6:30pm)

Comment: Zillmere to Caboolture 6 day track closure 16 - 23 Sep 2016

Greetings,

Trains have resumed normal services on the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture Line.

Thanks to Queensland Rail and TransLink for the excellent arrangements during the 6 day closure.

Our members monitored and took trips on the replacement bus services and were very pleased with the arrangements.

Yes, it is not ideal to have a track closure extending into a working week but in this case the track work that was needed required the extended closure.

Some individuals will always feel put out, but it is important to grasp the overall community benefit that will be gained once the Redcliffe Peninsula line opens.

A small amount of pain for such a huge train gain!

Best wishes
Robert

Not long left. Hopefully the last week goes smoothly. Looking forward to the opening day of MBRL :)
I love transit but I have a specific interest in line haul transit systems, particularly LRT and BRT.
